Hell or High Water

Some people may think that one of the movies with the highest level of bromance would be Captain America: Civil War. I, however, disagree with that statement since while the bonds of friendship between the characters are strained during the events of it, I wouldn't say those bonds are strong compared to what I have seen most recently. After I saw Hell or High Water, I believe it has one of the best bromances ever as well as being a really good Western heist movie.

Plot: The story of Hell or High Water fits into the trope of stealing enough money to reach a certain goal while avoiding the sheriff's hot on their trail. This is paced very well while being carried on by the great dialogue between the 4 characters involved. The cinematography of the Texas towns involved is very beautiful as the characters interact with the situation at hand. It's more dialogue heavy with minimal amount of action involved but the dialogue involved helps with the stakes at hand. Overall the story depends on both the environment and the characters involved very well.

Characters: The casting of the characters is very on point. The strengths of Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges, and Gil Birmingham are shown at their highest through the movie. Chris and Ben have great chemistry with each other as the brothers working together toward a common goal despite differing ways of life they lived in the past. Jeff and Gil work well with each other as two rangers working to stop them. The bromance of these pairs reveals itself during their dialogues with one another, even some great quips and one-liners at each other for some fun. You may have trouble on which duo to root for but that's what I loved about it. These actors are wonderful to watch overall and make this movie worth a look at.

Action: At the beginning of the movie, very little happens but there's a minor bit of humor and it's nice to watch. But in the last act, with the development built on both sides, everything heats considerably and it's a great thing to watch, with the circumstances at risk. There's no gore involved in the fights near the end. There's only a straight up gunfight with the intensity of what's at stake in the air.

Overall Consensus: Hell or High Water expertly builds up parallels of brotherly bonds of the main characters as they get closer to an emotional climax when they eventually cross paths. ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ 🍿

If you enjoy watching well developed bromances. If you like watching guys with pretty cool facial hair. If you like nice and fun banter in bromances. If you like watching heist movies with a Western vibe with people wearing those cool cowboy hats.

Possible reasons to avoid it: If you don't like movies with very little action and a lot of talking. If you don't like any of the actors involved. If you don't like heist movies in general. If you don't like bromances in movies for some reason. If you don't like seeing people wearing cowboy hats in Western type of movies.
