Storks

When it comes to family friendly animation movie giants, most people look to Disney, Pixar, and DreamWorks for great works while being cautious about some of the lesser known studios movies. It's not hard to understand that caution since some of them are either hit-or-miss. They may have a few good flicks among their collection of terrible apples or just starting out. In this case, the Warner Animation Group started out very strong in our modern times with The Lego Movie and are building on their own style with new and upcoming movies such as Storks. When I saw the trailer, it didn't reveal a lot of the movies humor and showed the basic plot. One or two of their jokes caught my attention and after hearing good things about it, I went to go watch it and I'm glad to say that it is another animation movie with feel good emotions to go around.

Plot: The story builds on the storks fable from when they used to deliver babies to their families and modernizes it. A company of storks used to that throughout periods of time but now they are in the package delivery services (basically a spoof of those sites like Amazon or eBay). One of these storks is up for promotion and must fire a human orphan who works at the company to get upgraded. However, through a series of events, a baby is created (through a very interesting process that must be seen in this movie to believe) and both of the aforementioned characters go on an adventure to deliver the infant to its family. There is a subplot connected to this story of a boy wanting another sibling to avoid feeling alone due to his workaholic parents. I won't go into much detail about this but it does help with a little breathing room with a look at this family bonding together. The adventure embraces its wacky zany situations with pretty good slapstick humor along the way while also finding moments to add some nice emotions to the story end results. Its plot may be predictable but the joy in having fun with some of its shenanigans makes the experience better. Overall the plot of Storks provides a great balance of comedic slapstick and nice emotional moments.

Characters: The characters to focus on in Storks are Junior (Andy Samberg), Tulip (Katie Crown), and Nate (Anton Starkman). Junior is a delivery stork who's offered a promotion in exchange for firing Tulip. Tulip is a orphan human worker with hopes of being reunited with her family. Andy Samberg and Katie Crown worked great together with their banter together while undergoing the adventure. Both of them know when to blend in with the silliness and sweetness of the situations that emerge throughout the film. Nate is a 10-year old boy who feels alone and neglected due to his workaholic parents, desiring a baby from the storks as a result. There isn't much screen time for the Nate and his family but the interactions between them do add to the nice sweet factor this movie has going for it. Honorable mentions go to Hunter (Kelsey Grammer), Alpha & Beta (Key & Peele). The formers plays the boss of Junior and he brings great humor with the boss persona you would expect from him. The latter are always great together as fans of their show would know and they make great use of their screen time as well. Some of their humor even reminds me of The Lego Movie (if you see some of their actions in this movie and have seen the aforementioned movie, you will know what I mean) and was one of the reasons I went to see this movie. Overall the characters and actors in Storks are having fun doing what they do throughout this comedic adventure.

Overall Consensus: Storks provides a funny entertaining family movie with goofy slapstick comedy, great voice casting, simple story, and sharp quick humor. ⭑⭑⭑⭑ 🍿
